Direct Time Domain Solution for Dielectric Structure with Time Derivatives of the Potential Functions by Central Difference

چکیده
In this article, we presented a new direct time domain solution for three-dimensional arbitrarily shaped dielectric structures. To solve the time domain electric field integral equation (EFIE), a central differencing scheme is used to evaluate the time derivatives of the potential functions. The solution method is based on the method of moments (MoM) and marching-on-in-time (MOT) technique. An implicit method with the time derivative evaluated by central difference is described to solve the EFIE, and the detailed mathematical procedures are included along with representative numerical results. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. FDTD Analysis of Top-Hat Monopole Antennas Loaded with Radially Layered Dielectric
Top-hat monopole antennas loaded with radially layered dielectric are analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Unlike the mode-matching method (MMM) (which was previously used for analyzing these antennas) the FDTD method enables us to study such structures accurately and easily. Using this method, results can be obtained in a wide frequency band by performing only one ti...
متن کاملA Time-Domain Method for Shape Reconstruction of a Target with Known Electrical Properties (RESEARCH NOTE)
This paper uses a method for shape reconstruction of a 2-D homogeneous object with arbitrary geometry and known electrical properties. In this method, the object is illuminated by a Gaussian pulse, modulated with sinusoidal carrier plane wave and the time domains’ footprint signal due to object presence is used for the shape reconstruction. A nonlinear feedback loop is used to minimize the diff...
متن کاملAn efficient finite difference time domain algorithm for band structure calculations of Phononic crystal
In this paper, a new algorithm for studying elastic wave propagation in the phononic crystals is presented. At first, the displacement-based forms of elastic wave equations are derived and then the forms are discretized using finite difference method. So the new algorithm is called the displacement-based finite difference time domain (DBFDTD). Three numerical examples are computed with this met...
متن کاملInvestigation of Fluid-structure Interaction by Explicit Central Finite Difference Methods
Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) occurs when the dynamic water hammer forces; cause vibrations in the pipe wall. FSI in pipe systems due to Poisson and junction coupling has been the center of attention in recent years. It causes fluctuations in pressure heads and vibrations in the pipe wall. The governing equations of this phenomenon include a system of first order hyperbolic partial differen...

In this paper we investigate focusing properties of graded index (GRIN) photonic crystal (PC) structures which are composed of different materials with different refractive indices. GRIN PC structure is constructed from air holes in dielectric background. The holes radii are varied in the normal direction to the propagation in such a way that a parabolic effective refractive index is produced. ...
